Building Update

Main filing roomThe HVRF has been planning major repairs and upgrades to the research centre for many years. Stage 1, a modern $700,000 extension to the Macquarie Building, was opened in 2008.

Last year, HVRF won a Federal Government grant of $698,000, through the Regional Development Australia Fund, to complete Stage 2 of its plans. The grant added to $239,000 already raised within the Hunter community through the HVRF’s Building Fund.

The approved plans include repairing and modernising the dilapidated Macquarie Building to bring it into line with the Stage 1 extension. The Macquarie Building is located at the northern end of the research centre site, with its nearest access via Hall Street.Macquarie building entrance

Construction is due to commence in February and will continue for most of 2012.
