The Foundation undertakes socio-economic research, which is unique in regional Australia. Many of our data series have been operational since 1980. Over time our key regional indicators and data collection techniques have been significantly extended and enhanced.
Our work is focussed in a number of key areas:
- Economic indicators for the Hunter, Upper Hunter and Central Coast regions
- Social and economic wellbeing for the Hunter
- Measures of housing affordability in the Hunter
- Input-Output modelling for the Hunter Region
- Environmental attitudes monitoring for the Hunter, Upper Hunter and Central Coast regions
- Use of information technology in Hunter, Upper Hunter and Central Coast businesses and households
- Business innovation in the Hunter and Central Coast regions
- Investment within the Hunter and Central Coast regions

Our research results are communicated through publications, databases, at functions, in the media and through our free information service. Most of our research findings are available to download free thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.
